Announcing our 2013-2014 Main Stage Season
Thank you to everyone who participated in Cell Phone Shakespeare there are some really great Hamlets out there. I hope you had as much fun as we did. I am now very excited to announce our upcoming main stage season. I promised our audiences at Show and Tell that our next show would be lighter in tone, and indeed it is. Have a look and get ready for an exciting year of bold storytelling. -D.B.

It is the evening of July 4th, 1944 and Matt Freidman, a Jewish account, travels to a Lebanon, MO to woo small town Protestant girl Sally Talley. Under the moonlight in an old boathouse this unlikely pair considers the unpredictable waltz of romance. This “no-holds-barred romantic story” was the winner of the 1980 Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle award as best play of the season. Lanford Wilson's valentine of play receives an intimate revival this October.

A New Play by Laura Heikkinen

Laura Heikkinen in Show and Tell
This moment has a voice- art illuminates it. Sharing the voice of an emerging playwright only happens if we are willing to hear. Puzzle Piece Theatre recently commissioned a new play by Detroit native Laura Heikkinen. Heikkinen's recent play, “Chiseled” debuted at Wayne State's Heck-Rabi One Act Festival earlier this year. We are thrilled to share with our audiences her ability to blend complex emotional states into fascinating characters with contemporary voices. Look for this premiere in March of 2014.
