Samer Ajluni (Matt Freidman) most recent work was playing Louie in Lost In Yonkers with Dionysus Theatre in Pinckney, Bruce in Phoenix and Roberto Miranda in Death and the Maiden at the Matrix Theatre in Detroit with both performances earning Rogue Gallery award nominations. He is very excited to work with D.B. and Puzzle Piece Theatre. He received his formal training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. He is also a graduate of Eastern Michigan University where he has a B.S. degree in Arts Management.
Katie Galazka (Salley Talley) received her B.F.A. In Theatre from Wayne State University and studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School. She spent several years as an Artistic Partner with Breath Art Theatre Project, where her performances garnered nominations for Wilde, Free Press, and Rogue Gallery awards. Katie has also been seen on the Performance Network, Abreact and Planet Ant stages.
D.B. Schroeder (Producing Artistic Director) comes to Puzzle Piece after serving as the Artistic Director of Chicago based Thunder & Lightning Ensemble, which he co-founded in 2004. He lead this organization to artistic acclaim including: Directing and Designing the Chicago Premiere of Ambition Facing West and a production of The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, both named to NewCity Chicago Magazine's Year End List of “Top 5 Memorable Productions by Smaller Theatres” in 2006 and 2007 respectively and producing the After Dark Award (Best Actor in a Leading Role) winning Red Light Winter which was also on NewCity's Year End list in 2007. Past directing work includes productions for MSU Studio, Characters & Co. and Planet Haunted Studio. Design work for Chicago's Born Naked Theater and Chemically Imbalanced Comedy. In St. Louis he taught Acting and Technical Theatre for Character’s & Co. Mr. Schroeder holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Missouri State University and Apprenticed at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.
Laura Heikkinen (Associate Artistic Director) made her debut with the company last February in Show and Tell. Her original play Small Hours Serenade was commissioned by Puzzle Piece and will debut in March of 2014. Laura received her B.F.A. in Theater from Wayne State University where her play Chiseled, premiered as part of the Heck-Rabi One-act Festival. As an actress, Laura was recently seen in Loudermilk Productions' Under the Poppy and understudying and performing the role of Sally in Puzzle Piece's Talley's Folly.
