D.B. Schroeder (Producing Artistic Director)
Puzzle Piece Theatre directing and design credits include: Show and Tell,

and the American premiere of The Boy Who Cried
He spent the Summer of 2015 directing Macbeth for Shakespeare in Detroit.  Working as a producer, director, actor,
teacher, and designer he is well-versed in all critical components required to create powerful, moving, and vital Theatre.
D.B. comes to Puzzle Piece after serving as the Artistic Director of Chicago-based Thunder & Lightning Ensemble, which
he co-founded in 2004. He led this organization to critical artistic acclaim, including Directing and Designing the Chicago
Premiere of Ambition Facing West and a production of The Trestle at Pope Lick Creek, both named to NewCity Chicago
Magazine's Year End List of “Top 5 Memorable Productions by Smaller Theatres” in 2006 and 2007 respectively.  In
St. Louis he taught Acting and Technical Theatre for Character’s & Co., and served as an Assistant Teacher for
The Magic House's Storybook Theatre Series.  Schroeder has directed productions for Missouri State University Studio,
Characters & Co. and Planet Haunted Studios. He holds a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Missouri State University
and Apprenticed at The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.

Laura Heikkinen (Associate Artistic Director)
was named Puzzle Piece's  Associate Artistic Director in October of 2013.
Laura received her B.F.A. in Theater from Wayne State University where her play Chiseled, premiered as part of the Heck-Rabi
One-act Festival.  Her full length play, Small Hours Serenade, had its world premiere produced by Puzzle Piece in 2014.
Puzzle Piece acting credits include: Sharon/Erinn in Show and Tell, understudying and going on as Sally Talley in Talley's Folly,
Julia in The Wayfarer, Mara Lynn in White People, and Laura in The Glass Menagerie.  Laura has frequently been seen on the
stages of Shakespeare in Detroit where credits include roles in Antony and Cleopatra, Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream,
Miranda in The Tempest and most recently Lady Macbeth in Macbeth.  She has also acted with Slipstream Theater Initiative,
Loudermilk Productions, among others.  Heikkinen also works with the art community Apathetic Zebra. Aside from performing,
Laura spends much time in front of a sewing machine, or with a brush in her hand. She is an elephant enthusiast and a proud
hair-color chameleon.
